The squirrel and the dove

“What is it like dove?” squirrel asked one day as they sat together in the old oak tree at the bottom of the lane. “What does it feel like to fly free, to soar into the air, to wheel and cartwheel and feel the wind under your wings?”

Dove gazed towards the heavens, perhaps remembering past glorious flights, past adventures on the wing.

“Please tell me dove!” Implored squirrel “I yearn to know what it feels like to be free, to soar, to glide, to be at one with the heavens, angelic, almost divine!” squirrels excitement palpable as finally, slowly, dove lowers his gaze, turns towards squirrel, and clearly yet softly replies…
